Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks for the Windows and Xbox Series X/S platforms. ![]() Subscribe to my free weekly content round-up newsletter, God Rolls. Explore and fight with slick animated visuals that automatically match up to the beat. An absolute win.įollow me on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. The whole world of Hi-Fi Rush moves to the beat, from Chai himself to the environment and even enemy attacks. Parry and dodge to this pattern to start to. It’s joyful, addicting and something I may play twice just for the hell of it. Exactly the same as you did before, you’ll see the beat of his attacks appear above Kale’s head and you will see if you need to parry or dodge them. I would recommend Hi-Fi Rush to anyone, even many non-gamers. It feels like another High on Life situation (with more love from critics and no accompanying scandal). Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be a boastful and tactless jerk at times, but hes truly a caring guy at heart. I’m not sure I would have bought this game for $30, which is what it’s selling for on Steam, but the ability to download and play after the stealth drop generated a whole lot of instant goodwill toward Xbox and Game Pass and reminded me “oh yeah, that’s why I’m paying for this” even as it has lacked larger releases which were delayed out of 2022. At first it seemed like Chai might be a Star Lord-but-worse knock-off, but he’s weirdly charming, and I enjoyed both his various team members and the bosses he’s tasked with taking down, many of which result in some really creative fights. XCOM: Chimera Squad did it a couple of years ago, and 3DS game Code Name: STEAM did it a few years before that. I was also surprised just how much I liked the story and characters as well here. Hi-Fi Rush is not the first game to do it. ![]()
